The Wentworth Gold Field
William Charles (WC) Wentworth was given a substantial land grant on the Nepean River. He was one of the group of explorers who first crossed the Blue Mountains in 1813 and as a reward received a further 1750 acres. In the 1830s William Charles Wentworth acquired six portions of grazing land which embraced the whole of the Lucknow mining village and its hinterland. He began to build a pastoral empire; gold was not then an issue.
